And even if everyone loves a white Christmas, with a bit of gold, Christmas tree green, and festive red, this year we’re in the mood for a splash of colour. A bit of pep and gourmet or even rural designs, light spirits and gratitude, a bit of MIX&MATCH. In short, we were after an adventurous Advent calendar!

To that end, we brought together the most eyecatching designs from our Accessories: the Envie d’Ailleurs, Trèfle and Lorette collections.

Making your Advent calendar

What you need:

  • Sticky-backed plastic
  • Masking-tape with a design to match your tastes: glitter, patterned, gold, silver… the choice is yours.
  • Scissors
  • Printer
  • And of course: 24 little treats

Make your Advent calendar in four easy steps:

Allow 90 minutes to make the 24 cartons.

Step 1: Download and print the six pattern templates. Cut out the 24 patterns.
Step 2: Use the sticky-backed plastic to stick the two smallest sides of each template together.
Step 3: Use the masking-tape to assemble the top of the carton (the side closest to the number).Place a little treat inside each carton.
Step 4Seal the cartons with see-through tape.

Here’s a few ideas of things you can put in your cartons: Jewellery (rings, pins, chains, charms, brooches, etc.) sweets (bonbons, chocolates, candy, fruit sweets, etc.), tea bags, seeds for planting, small Christmas tree and nativity decorations, make-up and beauty miniatures (perfume samples, nail varnish, lipstick, etc.), goodies (keyrings, badges, USB sticks, etc.), beads and threads, small scented candles and other fragrances (incense, essential oils, etc.), toys (small soft toys, figures, toy cars, etc.), stick-on tattoos, pastry cutters, hair accessories (pins, headbands, bobbles, etc.).

Comment if you think of anything else!

If you like, you can stick a piece of thread under the masking tape so you can hang the cartons from a few branches of the Christmas tree painted with spray paint!

Want to be even more creative, choose your favorite designs and add the numbers as you wish?
No problem, just choose “designs only” and it’s completely up to you!

Tic, Tac ! Tic, Tac !

How to pamper your garden furniture this winter ? https://www.fermobpeople.com/en/how-to-pamper-your-garden-furniture-this-winter/ https://www.fermobpeople.com/en/how-to-pamper-your-garden-furniture-this-winter/#respond Thu, 28 Nov 2019 14:27:34 +0000 https://www.fermobpeople.com/?p=8933

Today, we would like to share some very quick, simple tips to protect your tables, chairs, sunloungers and other outdoor furniture!

It is autumn: the time of year to go for a walk in the wood. It’s time to protect your furniture for the winter. So follow the guide!

Before storing your furniture, clean it with a suitable product:

1.
Start by cleaning your metal furniture with clean or soapy water. Wipe it carefully to prevent limescale marks.

2.
If there are any ingrained stains or dirt, spray a little cleaner on the surface (aluminium, steel, outdoor canvas, or woven resin). Be sure to use a mild cleanser and avoid detergents.

3.
Rub lightly with a damp sponge. Avoid abrasive or metallic sponges 😊.

4.
All you have to do is rinse and you’re done!

Find out more:

Check out the multi-purpose cleaner suitable for all Fermob furniture. You’ll also find it useful in the home for dusting, removing bird droppings, food stains or rain marks on windows!

If you leave your furniture outside all winter, remember to:

1.
Tilt your tables using wedges to help water to run off and limit dirt and scale deposits. It’s also advisable to rest your seats against the tables and not turn them upside down on the tables.

2.
Stack your sunloungers

3
. Bring in your cushions and protect your chairs and sofas with our covers – nothing else – as they will allow air to circulate. Don’t cover them with a tarpaulin or plastic sheet and avoid prolonged contact with any object that might retain water and moisture.

Now your furniture will be clean and protected until the fine weather comes back.

You can now go and curl up by the fire! 😊

Our shopping list for consuming in an environmentally friendly way https://www.fermobpeople.com/en/our-shopping-list-for-consuming-in-an-environmentally-friendly-way/ https://www.fermobpeople.com/en/our-shopping-list-for-consuming-in-an-environmentally-friendly-way/#respond Wed, 06 Nov 2019 09:32:52 +0000 https://www.fermobpeople.com/?p=8714

For many years, producing in an environmentally friendly way has been a constant concern for Fermob. Distributing products that are good for you and for the planet is in line with this preoccupation … Check them out… We are sharing them just with you, Fermobpeople…

Some gems for consuming in an environmentally friendly yet decorative way

The guiding light of the Fermobpeople community is to share (our tips, tricks and favourites, and yours too)! Today, as Fermob is a brand that has long been committed to protecting the environment, this will be our shopping list for environmentally friendly, trendy consumption, in all circumstances! Visit the Fermob Paris Raspail and Ledru stores to get your hands on some…

Environmentally friendly AND decorative products!

For your cocktails in the garden, barbecues, birthdays and outdoor picnics, say goodbye to your disposable dishes! Replace them with….

1. Bam Bam straws, made of bamboo from sustainably managed forests. They are reusable and 100% natural . To sip your summer cocktails with peace of mind!

2. Delightful plates and mugs, made of bamboo fibre. The brand &Klevering has been working with two artists, Anouk Kramer, a ceramist and Yvette van Boven, a Danish chef. Put these together and what do you get? Colourful, cheerful tableware, just like Fermob furniture, set off by primary-coloured motifs reminiscent of paintings by Matisse, or decorated with stylized vegetables. Machine washable tableware: so eco-friendly!

3. organic plastic cutlery by Koziol: a clip-on set, with a catchy name: Klikk! An intricate piece of work by London designer Cairn Young, inspired by the Japanese who know how to perfectly interlock pieces of wood, without ever drilling or nailing them.

4. Soup plates, with a very original and stylish folded finish, by Koziol. Or when organic plastic goes chic….

5. A silicone placemat for children by Superpetit, to colour and take with you everywhere, for their meals or to keep them busy in the doctor’s waiting room! The 5 washable, non-toxic felt pens are provided.

6. Exit plastic cutlery and enter the BAM BAM bamboo meal kit by COOKUT, to slip into your bag! Ideal for lunch at your desk or a picnic to get some fresh air.

7. And to carry all this and much more: the prettily-named Sacha folding bag made of natural cotton by COOKUT. Made of netting, its retro look gives a great effect!

8. And, last but not least…, for your home, get COOKUT brand Cofi washable coffee filters made of untreated cotton.

Our BIG favourite is NAHTIK, the eco-chic toothbrush

NAHTIK, the brand named after of a Pacific island recently smothered in plastic waste, was born out of a beautiful family history. In the Reybier family, I would like the mother, Valérie, in charge of the project, the father, Jean-Christophe, the daughter, Jeanne, and the son, Victor.

“As a former corporate lawyer, I had the idea of creating NAHTIK to set out on a new adventure and make my contribution to ecology. Plastic pollution is a real plague that we must fight. Each year, 5 billion toothbrushes sold worldwide, are mostly dumped without being recycled and end up on the sea bed. I wanted to offer an alternative to plastic but I wanted this alternative to also be attractive: That was how NAHTIK started.  Of course, fighting plastic pollution with your toothbrush will not solve the problem, but it’s a start! Because there is no such thing as a small gesture when many people are making them”.

Bamboo has all the qualities to advantageously replace the plastic used in toothbrushes: it is natural, biodegradable, naturally antimicrobial and can be composted. And in order not to deprive pandas of their favourite food, NAHTIK uses the only species they don’t eat.

Terribly attractive with its sculpted handle with different 3 patterns, this recyclable toothbrush comes in 5 colours, including a model for children. It is also available by subscription: for 25 euros, you get a new toothbrush in the post every three months.

Have you changed any of your habits? What are your tips for sustainable consumption?

WHERE DOES THE NAME “JUJU HAT” COME FROM?

Juju Hats are hats worn by the Bamileke people of Cameroon during ritualistic ceremonies in honor of the chief (i.e., the “Fon”). These headdresses symbolize prosperity.
Juju hats are generally made from chicken feathers, guinea fowl feathers or feathers from other types of fowl. They are braided on wooden rods and then attached to a rattan base, which requires hours of work!

HOW TO MAKE A JUJU HAT IN JUST A FEW MINUTES:

Material:

  • cardboard
  • scissors
  • glue gun with glue sticks
  • picture fasteners
  • feather ribbons (approximately 4m)
  • can of spray paint (optional)
  • shells (optional)

You can find most of these things at a craft store.

STEPS FOR MAKING A JUJU HAT:

  1. Cut out cardboard circles of varying diameters. (To trace perfect circles, use plates, bowls, glasses, etc.)
  2. Glue the picture fastener a few centimeters from the edge (if necessary, sew it with a needle and thread):
    DIY Juju Hat
  3. Glue the base of the feather ribbon along the edges of the cardboard (go quickly, as the glue dries quickly!). Press hard to make it stick.
    DIY Juju Hat
When you have gone around once, leave an extra 1 cm to glue on top of that to close your circle:
    DIY Juju Hat
  4. Repeat this step until you can no longer form circles.

To fill in the center of the Juju Hat, glue feathers one by one.
To taper off the center of the Juju Hat, cut your feathers in half and stack them until you can no longer see the cardboard:

  5. If you want to cover the ribbon differently, glue on some shells or other decorations.

  6. To take customization a step further, you can spray the feathers with spray paint (here, in copper).DIY Juju Hat DIY Juju Hat

We’ve already told you that we’re very in tune with color at Fermob, haven’t we? Definitely!
Have we told you the we were also foodies? Of course!
So you won’t be surprised if we told you that we can’t wait for Candlemas!!!
What’s more fun than colored crepes to surprise your guests and entertain the kids?!
The trick is simple: just pour the crepe batter into several bowls, and add a few drops of food coloring! Red, blue and yellow, and if you mix the colors, you’ll have purple, green and orange… The more drops you add, the more intense your colors will be! And conversely, the fewer drops you add, the lighter your colors will be.

To push the concept of “Rainbow Crepes” to the extreme, get creative with colors by having:
– colorful accompaniments: redcurrant, strawberry, blueberry, blackcurrant, orange and lemon jams…
– colorful beverages: orange juice, mint and strawberry syrups…
– colorful decor: paper napkins, cardboard plates, paper cups…

An idea you may also want to keep in mind for birthday parties😉

So, will you be surrendering to rainbow crepes?
